Abstract

This special edition of the Revista Diálogos em Gerontologia brings together works presented at the 2nd International Forum Sábias Vivências, an event dedicated to interdisciplinary debate on human ageing in its sociocultural, clinical, and political complexity. The publication responds to the need to record and disseminate the scientific production that emerges from spaces of education, research, and outreach committed to strengthening the field of Gerontology.

The Forum has established itself as an important locus for articulation between universities, services, collectives, and institutions, promoting dialogue between academic knowledge and professional practices. In this sense, the extended abstracts that make up this volume highlight the multiplicity of theoretical-methodological approaches that characterise contemporary studies on ageing, emphasising the relevance of interdisciplinary and intersectoral perspectives.

The works presented here discuss themes that intersect public policies, health care, educational processes, care practices, the production of subjectivity, and the social conditions that shape and modulate experiences of ageing. In doing so, they reaffirm that ageing is not an exclusively biological phenomenon, but a historical, relational, and situated process, whose understanding requires the integration of different fields of knowledge.

The publication of this edition fulfils the role of preserving the scientific memory of the event, ensuring its dissemination and contributing to the advancement of academic debate on longevity. At the same time, it reinforces the commitment of the Revista Diálogos em Gerontologia to promoting open access, peer review, and the dissemination of research that engages with contemporary issues of public relevance.

It is expected that this volume will support analyses, foster cooperation networks, and encourage the continuation of investigations that contribute to improving policies and practices aimed at the older population. It is recognised that addressing the challenges posed by population ageing requires the development of rigorous, contextualised knowledge that is sensitive to the diversity of life trajectories and living conditions.
